God Will Make Your Efforts Enough

A couple years ago, God had me take notice of several rose bushes along my mom's home. It hadn't rained in a long time. The dirt was cracked and the bushes were super dry.

The Holy Spirit said, "Water each bush."

I hesitated, but I started walking toward the hose.

The Holy Spirit said, "No. Use a big pot."

I envisioned myself blinking wildly in disbelief. I said, "Daddy, I don't even care about the flowers that much... and then I have to go up and down a flight of stairs... in and out the house...just to water several bushes in 98 degree weather. They gone die waiting on me to water them."

Silence.

I took heed of the silence and started the several trips it took to water each rose bush. Upon finishing, I had stinging eyes, wet clothes, a dry mouth, depleted energy, and I was breathing heavy. All for what? It wasn't even enough water to make a difference. The ground was still cracked. And, I still didn't know why I heard the Lord tell me to do something that seemed pointless. 30 minutes later. It rained for the first time in a long time.

I thought/screamed, "God!"

The Lord said, "Your next goal will be a challenge. There will be no shortcuts. Difficulties and inconveniences will make you question your abilities. Your effort will seem pointless. But, I will come behind you and make your efforts enough."

Keep going, even though your efforts seem pointless.
